Royal Princess Fire – June 25 Cruise Cancelled
Article posted: June 22nd, 2009 by Administrator | No Comments »
A fire broke out in the engine room of the Royal Princess last Thursday, as the ship departed Port Said, Egypt on its Mediterranean cruise. A statement released from Princess Cruises confirmed that the fire had quickly been contained and that all passengers and crew are accounted for. The source of the fire is still unknown but the damage has been found to be much more extensive than originally thought.
The Royal Princess has since been moved to a shipyard to complete the necessary repairs and the remainder of the current cruise, and the following cruise departing June 25, have been cancelled. Princess Cruises will be securing homeward flights, transfers and associated hotel accommodations for all affected passengers and a full refund plus a future cruise credit will be given.
