Royal Caribbean International has unveiled its biggest ever European deployment with 10 ships, including two Freedom-class ships, offering more than 100 itineraries to 78 ports in 27 countries.
The two largest cruise ships in the world after Oasis of the Seas – Liberty of the Seas, which is set to sail her maiden season in Europe next year, and Independence of the Seas on her second season – will be the most innovative ships to ply European waters.
The two 3634-passenger, 160,000-tonne vessels boast special features such as a surf simulator, waterslide park, boxing ring, eight restaurants, 15 bars, and a four-bedroom, four-bathroom Presidential Family Suite.
The 2446-passenger, Vision-class Grandeur of the Seas will also be sent to Europe for the first time, sailing from Palma de Mallorca, Spain; while Liberty of the Seas cruises will depart from Barcelona.
Other vessels offering Mediterranean cruises include Voyager of the Seas departing from Venice; Navigator of the Seas from Rome; Adventure of the Seas from Malaga, Spain; and Brilliance of the Seas from Barcelona, whose itineraries will add maiden calls at Naples (Salerno) and Ravenna, with tours to Milan and Florence.
Other options, aboard Vision of the Seas, include ‘Holy Land’ roundtrip cruises from Istanbul, Turkey; and Baltic and Scandinavia itineraries departing from Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm.
Jewel of the Seas will sail from Harwich, England, to Scandinavia and Russia, with visits to Copenhagen; Stockholm; Tallinn, Estonia; and an overnight at St. Petersburg, Russia.
Splendour of the Seas will be home-ported at Rome (Civitavecchia) and offer Mediterranean, Holy Land and Egypt cruises.
The giant Independence is again slated to undertake longer, year-round, European itineraries departing from Southampton, UK.
