Royal Caribbean announced this week the deployment of a second vessel to their Australian fleet from 2011. Radiance of the Seas will join Rhapsody of the Seas in Australian waters in October 2011, more than doubling Royal Caribbeans capacity in the Australian market until April 2012.
The move is to meet demand from American, European and Asian visitors wishing to experience the Australian region onboard Royal Caribbeans cruise ships and will double the number of tourists Royal Caribbean brings to Australia each year to more than 30,000.
The 2100-passenger Radiance of theSeas will be “newer, longer, taller and faster than any ship that has ever been deployed in the Australian market,” Gavin Smith, Managing director of Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia said, with Radiance of the Seas also having larger cabins than any other superliner operating in Australia.
“We’re bringing one of the world’s best ships to Australia,” he enthused.
Radiance of the Seas was launched in Apr 2001, and its amenities include a dedicated cinema, a 9-hole mini-golf course, a helipad and basketball court. There’s also an Adventure Beach kids’ area with a waterslide and signature Royal Caribbean features including a rock climbing wall and spa and gym facilities, while 55% of cabins have balconies.
The vessel also offers two onboard fine dining restaurants – Chops Grille and Portofino, in addition to the main dining room and the Windjammer Cafe buffet.
Pricing and itinerary details aren’t available yet, but Cruisepilot is taking preregistrations for the 2011/12 season and both Rhapsody and Radiance will go on sale from 30 March.
