Another Vessel Planned for Orion

While orders for new ships dry up around the world and cruise lines sell off ships,Orion Expedition Cruises is plotting its expansion by asking passengers for ideas.
Australian-based luxury cruise line Orion Expedition Cruises is quietly preparing for the acquisition of a second ship.
It is likely that Orion Expedition Cruises “Orion II” will venture beyond the current destinations of the original Orion vessel – in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Antarctica – to islands in Asia and the South Pacific.
In a letter and email to its past passengers, Orion Expedition Cruises founder and MD Sarina Bratton said the company was “considering a few growth opportunities” and invited input from its Pathways guests.
”A priority for us is to acquire a second vessel,” Bratton wrote.
“We are currently doing some research as to what destinations offer us the best experiential opportunities and together with this, we need to gauge interest and demand.”
Clients were directed to an online poll where they were asked, “if Orion Expedition Cruises acquired a second ship, would you be interested in returning to a previously visited destination in that ship?”
They could also vote for their preference from a selection of potential destinations for a future cruise on Orion II.
Among the proposed destinations were Borneo, Korea, China, Japan, Micronesia, Hong Kong, Papua Province
and South Pacific islands.
Bratton is due to visit the UK next month for a series of invitation-only meetings with agents and media.
